Software Synthesiser

Here is my example of a Software Synthesiser.
This was created using the program SynthEdit.

The skin that was used to use as a background for my synth, was based on my theme of Nature. As you can see, I included a wood effect for the background of the synth, this was a nice subtle and plain background, which made the knobs, buttons, and switches on the synthesiser really stand out, and also be relevant with the theme of nature.
I also then put a gradient effect behind the wood effect – this made it appear as if this was the background, which the wood effect was then placed on top of. The colours were bright and catchy, and also neutral colours, so it did not conflict with the wood effect, or any of the features of the synth – leading to a well-produced synth.
I also including two vinyls in both top corners. The reason for this was to further relate the synth to the multimedia genre that synthesisers are in. Also, it made the synth look as if it was ‘decks’ that a DJ would use. I felt this gave the overall synth and really unique, effective, and even ‘cool’ effect.

In order to create the actual synth and its features and aspects (oscillators, buttons, knobs, sound out etc) – I followed both the tutorials which were present in the lectures and lab sessions at university, as well as Internet sourced tutorials – this way I felt I gained a wider range of knowledge and ability regarding this section of the project/portfolio.

Here is what the final synthesiser looks like. (Synthedit.se1)
